Brian Le Gassick of Johannesburg was a singer and guitarist in the popular band The Stacattos. The Stacattos version of Cry To Me topped the charts at #1 on January 24, 1969 and stayed there for 38 weeks, earning a double-gold disc! The Staccatos recorded their version of Cry To Me for the movie Katrinka in 1968. The group also supported Peter and Gordon (1965), the Byrds (1970) and Chris de Burgh (1979) on their South African tours.
